Courtney is an Indigenous artist and performer from the Diné nation. She began working in television as a background performer on shows such as Longmire, which work led to a featured role alongside actors Michael Douglas and Jeremy Irvine in the 2015 film, Beyond the Reach, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. After her interest in the performing arts grew, she attended San Juan College in New Mexico, where she pursued an associate degree in Liberal Arts, graduating with honors. Here her theatre career began, with her first few roles in productions of The Laramie Project, A Piece of My Heart, and It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. Deciding to continue her education, she attended Utah Valley University, studying acting, script writing, stage management, design, and film. During her time there, she continued performing, with roles in productions of The Rez Sisters, Jumpers, and a collaborative production of Argonautika with Brigham Young University, playing the role of Atalanta. Also while attending UVU, she participated in a study abroad program in Great Britain under program director, Christopher Clark, where she had the opportunity to perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts, she continues her work by advocating for Indigenous theatre, consulting for playwrights, coaching other Indigenous actors, and freelancing as a makeup artist.
